This weekend is the Sectionals at MIT. The Girls (Central South) are on Sunday at MIT - 4:15 start (pool opens at 2:45) Information links are:

1. Girls Psych Sheet - these are the seedings of the swimmers/divers, and what heat they will be in http://miaa.ezstream.net/index.cfm?itemid=6432

2. MIT pool information http://www.miaa.net/MIT-Information-Swim.pdf

3. Sectional/State Winter format - tournament information http://www.miaa.net/swim-winter-10-11-format.pdf

Holliston has the following entries for the Girls Central/South (sorry if I miss any - I'm just searching from the psyche sheets) - Brian and Charlotte have the official lists

1. 200 Yard medley Relay team - Christina B., Brittany C., Nina S. and Danielle P
2. 200 Yard IM - Nina S.
3. 50 Yard Free - Christina B. and Brittany C.

7. 100 Yd Backstroke - Christina B.
8. 100 Yd Breaststroke - Brittany C.

Congrats and good luck to the girls! This is a great, fun event. I plan to come watch the girls - many of them came last year to root on Matt andTroy. Their support was really appreciated - Matt set the meet record last year and that event was recorded and used as his selection for HS All American. I hope some teammates will come support this years kids as well!

I find it really impressive the # and quality of kids representing HHS this year. A tribute to their hard work, as well as Brian and Charlotte's coaching. And being partial to diving, for HHS to be represented by 3 divers is incredible! I'm not sure HHS has ever had a girl diver in sectionals. FYI - the championships in diving require each diver to perform 11 dives vs. 6 at regular meets.

If anyone has any questions on logistics for spectators, feel free to contact me or call. Other sectionals are scheduled throughout the weekend as well.

HABA Swim Site updated for 2010-11 Season

I have updated the HABA website with info to date on the 2010-11 Swim Team. The link to this site is:
http://www.hollistonhaba.com/Pages/Sports/Swimming/sports_Swimming_Diving.html

I also hope to, when and if I get a chance, to migrate or at least update the Swim Team Blog page (http://hollistonswimanddive.blogspot.com/) – try to get it off the HABA site and stand alone. If it’s not too hard to do . . . This site lets us post pictures and videos

Anyhow, hope this site helps. Please let me know of any mistakes or suggestions. Also, would love to get pictures and/or videos to post. Also – if anyone has copies of any news articles (Tab, Metrowest, etc) send them and I’ll post.

Data on the site.

1st, from the meet results, congratulations to Christina Belforti for qualifying for Sectionals and States in the 100yd Backstroke and Sectionals in the 100 yd free, Brittany Cuevas for qualifying for Sectionals and States in the 100yd Breaststroke, and Nina Sparre for qualifying for Sectionals in the 100 yd Butterfly, the 100 yd freestyle, and the 500 yard freestyle. Great jobs and hopefully there will be more qualifiers in the remaining meets. Note that Rachel Sullivan and Lisa Paecht have gotten scores for 1 meet that qualify, but for diving, 2 meets are required and 11 different dives must be “qualified”. However, they are well on their way !

So, quick overview of what’s on the website

1. Schedule – a copy of the schedule – taken from the schedule Brain Handed out. This version is info only – any changes or updates from Brian is the official schedule. Any questions – check with Brian, Charlotte, or the Captains

2. Results – this is the most fun. This page has lots of info – meet results, individual swimmer times, post season qualifiers, participants in meets, team best times/scores. For each individual swimmer, their times for each event per meet is listed, and their best time is indicated. Also, if the time is good enough to qualify for states or sectionals, that will be displayed. Also listed is the number of seconds needed to improve the time by to qualify. These files are nice as each swimmer can see their improvements over time

3. In the News Tab – nothing yet – send along anything and I’ll add it

4. Order of Events – including a description and how scoring at a meet is done. One thing to mention – once a team has achieved enough points to win a meet, the officials will sometime stop scoring them – a sort of “mercy” rule. You might notice that for some of the later events, one team will not have points added because of this

5. Diving info (my favorite)– some nice info on dive types, scoring, degree of difficulty tables, etc.

6. Post Season Qualifiers and Post Season Qualification Standards.

7. HHS School Records

8. Some FAQs from the past

9. Results and info from the past 2 seasons

Have fun digging around the site – hope it’s helpful.

Matt Flynn Awarded 2010 HS All American

I just found out last night that Matt was selected as a HS All American in diving.

It’s a great way for him to end his HS career! His performances at the 11 dive State Sectional meet qualified him for consideration, and a tape of that meet was sent in to the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association. AAU Diving coaches then took all tapes of HS divers from the entire country and judged each diver – ie did not just use scores but actually judged each diver as if it were a live meet. The top 130 divers in the nation are then named All American – less than 1% of the divers.

To the best of my knowledge, there have been only 3 other All Americans from HHS in all sports.

What a great ride it has been - but Matt and I will both say the best thing about it has been his time spent with his teammates, coaches and parents.
