Brian passed an updated schedule to the kids this week, so I updated the web page schedules. Note that there is an additional meet against Mansfield, as well as a rescheduling of the Concord Carlisle meet from a Friday away to Weds at home.
The Website ( http://www.hollistonhaba.com/Pages/Sports/Swimming/sports_Swimming_Diving.html ) has also been updated with results, including the scores from the Norton meet. I have also added the HHS School Records to that page. Finally, I have posted copies of any HHS Swimming and Diving info that is in the news.
Along that note, the Swim team results have been showing up in the Metrowest Daily News. An article on the swim team has been submitted for the next Tab, and that article plus a blurb on the Norton meet is posted on the Holliston Net News website ( http://www.hollistonnetnews.com/ ) - look in the Sports and Recreation tab.

Results of Norton Meet
The Holliston Swimming and Diving Team swam a home dual meet against DCL Rival Norton Friday evening at Keefe Tech. The girls team, paced by 1st place finishes by Julie Beauchemin (200 yard Freestyle and 100 yard Butterfly), Molly Curry (100 yard Freestyle and 500 yard Freestyle), Chloe Chen-Kraus (100 yard backstroke), and Stephanie Ydoate (200 yard Individual Medley), easily won by a score of 91 to 47.
Making it difficult on themselves by having three 1st place finishes disqualified due to false starts on relays, the boys team survived these miscues to post a tight 67 to 66 victory. 1st place finishes were recorded by Patrick Lanciault (200 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke), Bobby Beauchemin (200 yard Individual Medley), Jameson Luskay (500 yard freestyle), and Matt Flynn (1 meter diving).
Both the Boys and Girls team stand at 2-0, with a coed record of 0-2. Holliston’s next meet is Friday, January 2nd at 1:30 vs. Hopkinton-Ashland at Keefe Tech.

Results of Bedford Meet
Well, after a long ride to Bedford – northbound 128 traffic - Holliston lost a Coed Meet to Bedford. For a coed meet, the boys and girls swim combined events. The bad news at one of these events is that there are fewer events to swim (1 meet vs. 2 - 1 boys and 1 girls). The good news is that the meet is a little shorter, so we can get back into the southbound traffic quicker ;-(
Many good swims by the kids, and once again they all seemed to be having a blast. This year’s freshman class really seem to bring a lot of enthusiasm to the team.
Bobby Beauchemin won the 200 yd freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly, with Pat Lanciault winning the 50 yd Freestyle. Freshman Rachel Dinehart came in 2nd in the 100 yard backstroke, as did Julie Beachemin in the 200 yard IM. The 200 yard freestyle team of Lisa Elkan, Taylor Savage, Hannah Driscoll and Ariel Holman also came in 2nd.
Results are posted on the website (http://www.hollistonhaba.com/Pages/Sports/Swimming/results.html ). I have also uploaded pictures from this meet and the Tyngsboro meet to the Blog site (http://hollistonswimanddive.blogspot.com/ ). Finally, I added a new page to the website for “In the News” – and scanned in the article from yesterday’s Metrowest Daily News. I’ll continue to do this whenever we are in the newspaper.

Results of Tyngsboro Meet
Holliston started out on a good note tonight, as both the Boys and Girls team posted victories in their 1st meets of the season. Good enthusiasm was seen from all kids, and all swimmers participated and performed well. Many parents were on hand - impressive considering the long distance to Tyngsboro.
The Girls won 92 to 59. Individual winners included Seniors Anna Montain (200 Free), Molly Curry (100 Free), Katie Oertel (500 Free), Juniors Julie Beauchemin (200 IM and 100 Butterfly) and Stephanie Ydoate (50 Free and 100 Breaststroke), and Freshman Christina Belforti (100 Back)
For the Boys, who won 88 to 67, individual winners were Senior Pat Lanciault (100 butterfly and 100 Free), Junior Matt Flynn (Diving), Sophmore Brady Culver (200 Free), and Freshman Bobby Beauchemin (200IM and 500 Free).
Holliston Takes on Bedford on Thursday at 4:00PM.

Hopkinton - Asland combined swim team?
I noticed this morning in the Metrowest newspaper that Swimming Results for Hopkinton-Ashland were posted. If Ashland joined up with Hopkinton, this is news to me. Some of you may recall that last year we tried to work with the Ashland Swim parents group to encourage them to consider joining with Holliston. I will see if I can find any more information.

HHS Swimming Newbie Questions
Some Questions coming in:
1. Is there still practice on Thursday AM if there is a meet that day?
A. - Nope - if there is a meet, no practice that morning - you get to sleep in!
2. How long are the meets usually?
A. If I remember correctly, they are pretty long - probably from 2.5 to 3 hours.
3. I know there is a bus for the students, how will I know what time to pick up if I am not at a meet?
A. As long as the kids are not too busy texting their freinds :-) they usually call their parents from the bus when they are 5-10 minutes from the school. What did we do before cell phones!
4. What is the requirement for attending practices (if conflicts arise)?
A. I’m not sure the requirement Brian has set for attending practices, other than to swim in a meet, the athlete must attend the practice just prior to the meet. I know Brian will be flexible over the Holiday break, as families travel. I think it would be OK to e-mail, phone, or talk to Brian about any conflicts.
From the Holliston Athletic Handbook :( http://www.holliston.k12.ma.us/high/documents/AH.pdf)
• Students absent from school on the day of a game, scrimmage, or practice will not be permitted to participate in the activity. In order to take part in any athletic or extracurricular activities, a student must be present for at least 50% of the day.
• Satisfactory attendance at practice as required by the coach. If there is a need to be excused from attending a practice or meeting, it is the responsibility of the student-athlete and/or his/her parents to confer with the coach before, not after, the practice/meeting.
• A student must be present at the practice preceding a game in order to participate in the game, unless excused by the coach.
