TVL Meet Net News Article

The Holliston High School Swimming and Diving Team completed it’s regular season with a solid 3rd place finish in the First Annual Tri-Valley League Swimming and Diving Championship meet held Monday night at Wheaton College.

While official results are yet to be posted, Coach Brian Porter and Diving Coach Charlotte Rea enabled great performances by the kids, including helping 9 team members meet qualifying standards for post-season championships, which start this upcoming weekend.

The Girls 200 Yard Freestyle Team and 400 Yard Freestyle team both swam State Sectional Qualifying times. This, along with previously qualified 200 Yard Medley Relay and another 200 Yard Freestyle team, allowed coaches Porter and Rea to enter 7 girls in Saturday’s Central/South State Sectional Championship meet being held at MIT. These swimmers are Seniors Julie Beauchemin and Stephanie Ydoate, Sophomores Christina Belforti and Rachel Dinehart, and Freshman Carolyn Banak, Danielle Potemri, and Brittany Cuevas.

Christina Belforti also swam a state championship qualifying time in the 100 Yard Backstroke, which allows her to compete in this event not only this week, but the following Sunday at the Division 2 State Championships at Harvard University.

On the Boys side, Senior Matt Flynn capped an undefeated season by winning the TVL 1 Meter Diving Title with a personal best and new HHS 1 Meter Diving record of 321.15 – exceeding his previous high by over 40 points. Senior Troy Hutchinson qualified for his 1st Sectional Championships with a personal best score of 191.05. Both Troy and Matt will compete Sunday in the Boys Sectionals at MIT, with Matt also competing the following week at the State Championship meet at Harvard.

Other notable performances will be updated when the official scores come in. But Lisa Paecht took 3rd place in the girls 1M diving event – an outstanding accomplishment for this 1st year diver.
